11th Circuit strikes against Obama Administration’s mandatory health insurance law

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Atlanta, struck down the Obama administration’s mandatory health insurance purchase requirement on August 12. The administration argued the commerce clause of the U.S. Constitution gave them the authority to regulate important spending decisions of individual citizens, but the court found this exceeded the powers allocated to congress. Previously, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court had upheld the law.
