A group of Arizona and Colorado employees who travel to California were not paid for their overtime work as California state law specifies. So, the California Supreme Court ordered that Oracle must follow the states law on overtime pay. According to this law, employers based in California must pay nonresident workers for overtime work. California companies, whose workers travel between states, will be subject to several different overtime laws. The law protects the health and safety of workers and the public. It protects the employees in a relatively weak bargaining position from the evils associated with overwork without overtime pay.
