Douglas Hallward-Driemeier, formerly Assistant to the U.S. Solicitor General, has joined Ropes & Gray as a partner in its Appellate and Supreme Court practice. Hallward-Driemeir began his legal career as an assoicate with Ropes & Gray so this is a bit of a homecoming for him.

Hallward-Driemeier has handled appeals and Supreme Court litigation for the U.S. Department of Justice for more than a decade. He was Assistant to the Solicitor General in from 2004-09 in which he argued 13 cases before the Supreme Court.

Ropes & Gray has over 1,000 lawyers with offices in Boston, Chicago, Hong Kong, London, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Tokyo and Washington D.C.
